There are volunteer opportunities available for Lesson Volunteers, Facility Maintenance Volunteers, Special Event Volunteers, and many more! To become a Starbrite volunteer, you must complete our Volunteer Registration Forms and Volunteer Training.

Note: No horse experience is necessary, and all volunteer training is provided by Starbrite. The minimum age to volunteer at Starbrite is 14 years old.
Lesson Volunteer
Volunteers can assist in lessons as a horse handler or sidewalker.
​
Horse handlers are solely responsible for the horse during a lesson. They assist with tack, stand next to the horse in the crossties when a rider grooms, bring them through the mounting area, and lead the horse and rider throughout the lesson in the arena.
​
Sidewalkers are responsible for helping the rider stay balanced on the horse and assisting the instructor during the lesson. The sidewalker assists in providing physical support, encouragement, and supervision for the rider. This job is great for volunteers who enjoy interacting with our participants hands on.
Barn Chores Volunteer
Barn chores volunteers assist in maintaining the Starbrite facility through mucking stalls, cleaning water buckets, and sweeping as well as taking care of our horses by grooming. This job is great for volunteers who enjoy taking care of horses and don’t mind a little hard work!
Facilities Maintenance Volunteer
Do you have an interest in building things or coming up with new creative projects to benefit Starbrite? We are looking for individuals who can volunteer their time and skills to help with building upgrades and facility/property maintenance.
This job is great for volunteers who enjoy using their hands for big projects or who have varying schedules.
Administrative Volunteer
We are looking for volunteers who like to help in the office or at events! Administrative volunteers help with task like fundraising, database entry, mailings, preparing for and cleaning up events, researching, writing, editing grants, and much more!
